This  “Front-of-House” customer-facing role (with some “back of house” tasks) in our vibrant Cambridge community is responsible for providing an exceptional in-store experience for all who enter to foster connections, conversion, and sales revenue to help us sustain our small business, while also helping us maintain a strong store presence in our community.

Responsibilities:

  • Sales: You help us achieve sales goals so our business can sustain itself in the community. You do this by cultivating community and trust - and you do this through being yourself, great styling and connecting in IRL and via socials.

  • Product knowledge and wherewithal. Be confident with collections and products, including vintage denim, apothecary, jewelry, and small batch designers, to optimize sales through exceptional knowledge, communication, service, recommendations, and add-ons.

  • Opening and closing tasks + daily shopkeeping: including but not limited to dusting/cleaning, waxing hanging racks, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping to maintain an exceptional in-store store for our customers and ourselves.

  • Visual merchandising, including displays / mannequins, that inspire, draw interest, drive curiosity, and convert.

  • Maintain in-store inventory integrity by ensuring items are properly stocked, folded, hung, buttoned/zipped, tidied, and at best expressed for an excellent customer experience leveraging We Thieves standards.

  • Communicate with the team/management via Slack and email. Answer the phone and respond to customer issues with ease and professionalism.

  • Eventually Open and close the store including handling cash deposits, running key reports, and communicating with owner / manager.

Requirements:

  • Two shift minimum with weekend availability a must.

  • Previous retail experience is preferred.

  • Social Media aptitude! You can sell via story sales and are comfortable engaging with the community.

  • Punctual, dependable, and communicative with a high level of integrity, meaning you do what you will say you will do, with the ability to communicate your needs effectively.

  • Absolutely must be a people-person energized by a conversation with strangers, can work a room, and connect with others organically. Comfortable asking open-ended questions, breaking the ice, establishing trust, with strong, active listening skills and a high level of ease talking to all kinds of people.

  • Self-awareness and emotional intelligence. You are aware of your energy and how that translates to others, and you can anticipate customer needs.

  • Service forward. Have an innate desire to serve, meaning you enjoy helping others and naturally do it. This is intuitive and not taught - you go the extra distance out of joy, not because you have to.

  • Strong sense of aesthetics and personal style with a demonstrated interest and knowledge of culture, pop culture, vintage, art, fashion history, textiles design, fashion design and brand history.

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to self-direct and take initiative in tackling tasks and projects without being asked. Good at handling projects when they’re slow (because there’s always something that can be done).

  • “Roll-up your sleeves” and solution-oriented. You add value by being willing to get your hands dirty (including cleaning a bathroom) and by bringing ideas to improve our store.

  • Organized with an attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize competing projects and tasks.

  • Technical needs: Solid level of the iOS operating system and use of an iPad and mobile technology.

  • Software and point of sale (POS) knowledge including working with LightSpeed or other a huge plus along with Slack, Google Drive, and other Google oriented software.
