The Dose: Fall 2024

The Dose is a seasonal newsletter from Sandra and the crew at We Thieves where we share what we're currently "dosing on" with our subscribers. We wanted to make it more readily available to our friends, followers on the socials, and Thieves far and wide, so we've decided to start adding The Dose to our web blog here. Stay tuned for more...and thanks for dosin' with us! 🖤

Ahhh September! Every year, this month has a tendency to kick me in the ass––and this year is no different. It's a busy month of adapting to new schedules, new digs for some, and settling into the season after what always feels like a never-ending summer.

This month is also one where I feel the pressures of the corporate marketing system around us. Witnessing big brands promote their seasonal "it" items, always creating a manufactured sense of urgency, and online influencers making us feel that we just aren't enough. Yes, I too, feel it. Then I go for my long walks, get off the socials, chat with folks and neighbors in the community, and am reminded that there's a reason we do what we do. To create a space that is more in line with real time and to remind you that in a world of so much - slow fashion is a practice of trusting you'll find what you need, when you need it. Plus, the best pieces just seem to find us.

It's been one year since the opening of our Mass Ave store and we have some great events lined up this Fall and even looking towards Holiday - we look forward to you being here (and of course, if you're local, shopping with us IRL)!

Let's drop in!

~ Sandra, Molly, Emma and the We Thieves Crew

1. Watching: Party Girl with the ephemeral Parker Posey (she did make a guest appearance in the shop). This cult classic 90s film is perfect for Back To School. I mean who doesn't love a Librarian who digs house music? Watch Free using Kanopy (university login or library card).

2. Wearing (or gifting) for that Virgo in your life: Absolutely stunning vintage 90s Hermès"Tourbillons" scarf in 100% silk twill, designed by artist Christiane Vauzelles in 1968. $275 online or preview at Mass Ave. Psst...Large drop of Designer items dropping 9/20 online so stay tuned.

3. Adorning: Zlata Baba by Fat and The Moon - This bold red is a perfect pop for the season and of course 100% clean.  Online and in both stores $28.

4. Burning: Catskills - Flecked with the scent of cedar, cypress, and juniper, we brought in this seasonal burn earlier this year due to demand. It's a seasonal best seller for a reason!

5. Reading and Listening: Garnering early praise from actor Cillian Murphy and legend Sir Elton John; Simone Raymonde, best known as one-third of the Cocteau Twins, releases his debut memoir this month. The Cocteau Twins are in heavy rotation over here, and this book is supposedly a raw and honest look at the band. My fave album - is Blue Bell Knoll featuring Caroline's Fingers. True story: We'd shut down the dance clubs with this song - swaying in our Goth bodies and solo dancing to her ethereal voice.

6. Adorningfor that New England Fall Wedding, these Pearl Rhinestone Hair Pins are the perfect little treasure to elevate your look. Now at Mass Ave - $18.

7 + 9. Coveting: the new Willa Earrings from Amy Vander Els - who will be in store for our very first Mass Ave Trunk Show! Don't miss it. We'll be open late (4p - 8p) for a Sip and Shop / Meet The Maker - plus a full hit of her NEW Lacuna collection.

8. Road Trip: Pulaski Mills in PeabodyNew digs demand an exploration to one of my favorite places to peep on rainy days. This mill building features ModHaus midcentury furniture, Eleventh House Vintage Showroom, and floors of finds.

10. Prep for our biggest event of the year is in full swing! We'll be taking over the Cambridge Multi-Cultural Center on October 20th, for our annual No Frills All Fun Clothing Swap! Bring clothes you don't want, and get ready to shop closets of locals who are also swapping out their wardrobes. Tickets available HERE...

Thanks for reading and being here. Hopefully we get to see you in IRL!
